"Everyone's Journey Is Different"....In Memory of Kyrzayda Rodriguez
It was Sunday morning September 9, 2018, in bed scrolling through my google news feed. I quickly glanced at the headline...and thought, that name looks familiar, the picture didn't register as familiar so I continued scrolling. As I continued scrolling, the name couldn't escape me, until I goggled the name and seen the thousands of pictures I remember saving as fashion inspiration. I adored seeing Kyrzayda style on major platforms like pinterest and instagram.
Having been inactive on IG, her cancer battle and her death was not expected and I suddenly began to reflect back on my instagram discovery of this fierce fashion stylist/blogger/icon that span over three years. Not only was she beautiful, but what made her so different is she was a reflection of the many women who followed her and that's what made her so special and likeable, she was so relateable. Many women like myself saw themselves, when they seen her. Her fierceness exuded in every captured photo, her willingness to be her best self as she stepped forward in presenting her badassness through her fashion of choices. I didn't know much about her background, but everything that was captured in her photos spoke to the city girl in me. Classy, cool, feminine, urban, chic, stylishly confident, fun, bold, daring and badass casual. Kyrzayda always exuded an aire of authenticity that made you want to constantly progress to your most authentic self.
Kyrzayda was stunning! It wasn't until her death that I discovered she was Latina, she was a perfect representation of progressive women of color and darker Latina women of color who've gone under represented. She was grace on fire! I thank her for effortlessly representing us and making us shine even brighter.
After reading the news of her passing on several media outlets, like every woman who've I encountered, my aunts, my grandmother, my childhood neighbor, a previous colleague, my friends cousin, a friends childhood friend. I wanted to know more about her, her life, her happiness, her joy's, her peace, her dreams, her hopes and her fears. Who was she beyond her public persona, beyond the mask. Who was this soul...
Her passing, yet again led me on a quick journey to mentally revisit all the women I knew who's lives were changed by some form of cancer. All the women were of a varied age range, the youngest early 30's and another early 40's, Kyrzayda, 40. And here I stood just 8 days shy of turning 40, in those quick moments, I paused and as I always do often, especially approaching another birthday, I simply gave thanks. I gave thanks for so many things, most of all for Gods impartation of his wisdom and his constant covering over my life and the peace in seeking him along this life journey.
In this physical life we have so many labels and externally one would be able to run down a list of who these women were mothers, sisters, wives, successful, ambitious, hardworking, helpful, giving, kind, courageous and the list can go on. But, beyond, there are somethings that are left unseen to the eye. I then wandered what were the contents of the hearts, the souls the consciousness of these women. What was or has been the state of their spiritual health.
Looking at all facets of the human condition, I think I would spend a lifetime in search of answers to why the human body falls ill, robbing the body of it's vitality. As technologically advanced we are with medicine and research, science continues to fall short in cures and prevention, is it that we are trying to treat spiritual conditions with physical remedies? Just maybe...
And as much study that has been done on the human anatomy and it's physiological processes perhaps, we are not as mechanical in the physical sense as science wants us to believe?
With all of my being, I know we are created from the awesome divine source of light, love and universal abundance that science has yet to explain. But aside from this physical form, we are dense light bodies coded with specific "source" information. I believe, hence fallen ill, the body can and will only truly remedy and heal itself if the remedy or the cure is a derivative from source. Afterall, it is from source we came.

Kyrzayda passing felt so personal and as all who've fallen ill, it's led me to continue seeking out information. I discovered this book following her passing. My hope is that it finds its way into the hands of those seeking answers. *For further readings on health and wellness see resources in the menu tab.
